Etheridge William Leonard
On December 22, 1996, Etheridge passed away at the age of 84 years.

He is survived by his beloved wife Adelene, son Bruce; Daughter Barbara; sisters, Evelyn (Eric) Henderson of Ottawa, Alice Cowan of Roseneath, Ont.; brother Wesley (Irene) of Port Rowan, Ont. and several nieces and nephews. He was precedeased by his sister Catherine Park.

Etheridge was the son of the late William and Edith Leonard and was born in Vegreville, Alberta, on December 21, 1912. He spent most of his first 12 years in China where his parents were missionaries. Returning from China, the family settled in Delhi, Ont., where Etheridge completed his high school education. He later attended the University of Guelph where he received his B.S.A. in 1935. In 1939 he came west, eventually settling in Winnipeg where he met and married Adelene (Smith) on January 12, 1943. During the war he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Artillery and served overseas. In 1948 Etheridge began farming near Oak Bank, Man., where he first raised Holstein cattle and later developed a large herd of Aberdeen Angus cattle. In 1991 health problems forced him to retire from active farming.

Etheridge was a member of the Oak Bank United Church where a Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 27 with Rev. Dawn Ballantine-Dickson officiating. Cremation has taken place.
