The Leonard Family in China

A closer look at the Leonards at home in Chengtu, 1920. Etheridge, Evelyn and Catherine are on the lawn. The amah (nursemaid) next to William holds Alice and Edith holds baby Wesley. Evelyn, Alice and Wesley were all born at this house. Alice was to tell her daughter Judith years later that when she wanted to run away, the amah could not catch her because of her bound feet, shown in the photo.
