"Hey"

A cold dark day,
a cold dark night.
Sadness, sorrow, woe,
not a bit of delight.

Slow steady steps,
for a slow steady walk.
Nothing to say,
no reason to talk.

But there in the distance,
a light shines through,
to brighten my day,
no surprise that's it's you.

Warmth moves in,
to take away the cold.
The clouded over sun,
now shines like polished gold.

My sad, lonely heart,
is now giddy with glee.
We may have said nothing,
but your heart speaks to me.

A skip in my step,
for the rest of the day.
Simply because,
you stopped to say "Hey."
